Woods Reservoir, Woods Reservoir is 6 by 2 miles at its widest point. It lies just northeast of Woods Reservoir Reservoir and features Coffee County Recreational area in its northern mid section (just off Tennessee State Route 127). Located near Manchester, Tennessee off U.S. Alt 41 and State Route 127. An impoundment of the Elk River built by the United States Air Force in 1952 to supply cooling water to Arnold Engineering Development Center. Major tributaries include Bradley, Brumalow and Rollins creeks. Drainage area above the dam covers 263 square miles. Woods has 3,980 acres at a normal pool elevation of 960 feet msl. A maximum depth of 50 feet is found in the lower portion of the lake close to the dam. There is a winter draw-down of 3 feet, but fluctuations depend on inflow from the Elk River.
