Willamsport Lake. Directions: On Highway 50 approximately ten miles west of Columbia, two miles east of the Natchez Trace Parkway. At Whippoorwill, a 24-acre impoundment that has been designated as a youth-only fishing lake, hybrid Cherokee bass also were introduced. 3 other lakes are also located here. Blue Cat is 63 acres, Williamsport is 15 acres and Shellcracker is 53 acres. Even though access has been limited to a handful of Occidental-Glenn Springs Holding Co. employees in recent years, the Maury County property has gained quite a reputation as what the TWRA officials call "a good place to hunt and a great place to fish.'' Launching ramps are narrow and need work. Parking for vehicles and boat trailers is limited.
