2002 Trout Stocking Schedule Information

Tailwater Trout

TWRA stocks fingerling and adult trout, into coldwater tailwaters below dams, to provide fishing opportunities. In many tailwaters trout fishing can be good year-round. Catchable size fish are stocked routinely during the following months:

Elk River (below Tim's Ford Dam) - Rainbow and Brown trout stocked April through November.

Duck River (below Normandy Dam) - Rainbow trout stocked from March through December.

Caney Fork River (below Center Hill Dam) - Rainbow and Brown trout stocked from March through December.

Stones River (below J. Percy Priest Dam) - No trout stocked below the dam due to security concerns, however, Nice Mill on the West Fork of the Stones River will have Rainbow trout stocked from December through March.

Obey River (below Dale Hollow Dam) - Rainbow and Brown trout stocked from January through December.

Hiwassee River (below Appalachian Dam) - Rainbow and Brown trout stocked from January through December.

Ocoee River (Ocoee Dam #1 - Parksville) - Rainbow trout stocked March/April and September/October.

Clinch River (below Norris Dam) - Rainbow and Brown trout stocked from March through September.

S. Holston River (below S. Holston Dam) - Rainbow and Brown trout stocked from March through September.

Watauga River (below Wilbur Dam) - Rainbow and Brown trout stocked from March through September.

Wilbur Reservoir (below Watauga Dam) - Rainbow trout stocked from February through June.

Holston River (below Cherokee Dam) - Rainbow trout stocked in February and October only.

S. Holston River (below Fort Patrick Henry Dam) - Rainbow and Brown trout stocked from February through May.

NOTE : The following schedule shows the week that listed waters are scheduled to be stocked in 2002. The dates listed are all Sundays, and the stocking event is planned to happen anytime during the next 5 days. We plan to follow this schedule, however, any stocking could be postponed or canceled due to circumstances beyond our control, such as adverse weather.

*** Daily permit is always required. In addition to scheduled stockings, Green Cove Pond will be stocked as needed during winter. Closed Thursdays and Fridays year-round, except holidays.
