Visitors Information Center. Located 6 miles northeast of Nashville, Old Hickory Lake offers 19,550 acres of water with a beautiful 440-mile shore line. World record walleye was taken from the lake in 1960. The lake has 38 accessible picnic and camping areas. Old Hickory Lake's tributary rivers stretch from Nashville to Carthage, TN. Corps of Engineers recreation areas and campgrounds line Old Hickory's shores, providing a variety of picnicking, fishing, boating, water-skiing & camping. With no lifeguards on duty at Old Hickory, swim at your own risk (no swimming allowed near or from boat launches). This lake features many recreational activities including three recreational areas offering camping and Bledsoe Creek Camping State Park (on the eastern portion of the lake). The lake is part of the Cumberland River and this portion stretches over 34 miles. Located between Nashville and Gallatan off U.S. 31E.
