Center Hill Lake. Fishing, Campsites with and without electric hookup, Showers, Restrooms, Drinking Water, Sanitary Dump Station, Picnic/day use, Marina, Fuel, Launch Ramp (small fee may apply). Visitors Information Center. 8 Marinas, 6 recreational areas and Edgar Evans State Park (accessible off Tennessee State Route 141). Center Hill Lake is a 64 mile long reservoir consisting of 415 miles of shoreline, and 18,200 acres of deep, pure water for many species of fish. Center Hill Dam is on the Caney Fork River, it features many coves and forks along with excellent fishing. The lake offers a wide variety of sporting opportunities including boating, fishing, water-skiing, camping, picnicking, hiking and swimming. Located 5 1/2 miles south of I-40 at the Tennessee State Route 56 exit (273) or Exit 268 and follow signs 6 miles south on Tennessee State Route 141. |

This recreation area is a day use area and offers camping. There is 11 picnic sites and 1 group site. One ramp is available for launching.
Floating Mill Park, (615) 858-4845
This park is both day use and camping. There is 33 picnic sites and 1 group site. There is 2 swimming areas located in the park. There are 2 ramps available for launching.
Holmes Creek, (615) 597-7191
This area is both day use and camping. There is 13 picnic sites. There is 2 ramps available for launching.
Hurricane Bridge
Located right off I-40, Hurricane Bridge draws many Nashville fishermen who can't wait to go angling for crappie, bass, bream, catfish, walleye, and trout. A day-use area, with picnic shelters complete with grills and tables, provides ample amenities. Camping is not allowed but if the urge to stay over hits you, drive over to the Floating Mill campsite close by. Handicap-accessible, Hurricane Bridge stays open from May 1st though October 1st.
Directions: Take I-40E, exit 273. Turn right on State Highway 56S. Travel 5 miles to the entrance of recreation area located on the right (just before crossing the bridge).
Center Hill Recreation Area
Prices: Launch fee $2.
Located near the Center Hill Dam, this area sports no developed beachfront area for swimming, but anglers use it for boat launching. Because of its hilly locale, this small site does not provide wheelchair access.
Directions: Take I-40E, exit 268. Turn right on state Highway 96. travel 4 miles to the State highway 141 Intersection. Turn right on 96S. Turn left after crossing Center Hill Dam.
Cove Hollow Boat Launch and Recreation Area
Located by the Center Hill Dam and the Resource Manager's office. Visit the wildlife exhibit and a pictorial history of the construction of the dam.
Directions: Take I-40E, exit 268. Turn right on state Highway 96. travel 4 miles to the State highway 141 Intersection. Turn right on 96S.Travel approximately 4 miles SW on highway 96 after crossing the Center Hill dam. Recreation area on the left.
Buffalo Valley Boat Launch
A small recreation area, Buffalo Valley Boat Launch allows fisherman access to the Caney Fork River (which runs into Center Hill Lake) and affords hikers a starting point along some scenic trails running beside the water's edge. The amenities at Buffalo Valley can be considered sparse, with no picnic tables or grills, but if you require those things or a place to pitch your tent for the night, Long Branch campsite is within walking distance.
Directions: Take I-40E, exit 268. Turn right on State Highway 96. travel 4 miles to the State Highway 141 intersection. Turn right onto 96S. Travel .4 mile. Turn right at the Resource Managers Office sign. Continue to river access area. There are no signs stating the name of the area.
Johnson Chapel Boat Launch and Recreation Area
Though not officially designated a swimming area, with gently sloping shores, shallow waters, and a sandy beach, visitors to this day-use area will be treated to a prime spot for a quick dip or a languid lap. And yes, even though it's not "official," swimming at Johnson Chapel is legal. Water sport enthusiasts make good use of the Johnson Chapel boat launch, while fisherman find the waters of the Center Hill Lake system to be chock full of crappie, bass, bream, catfish, walleye, and trout.
Directions: Take I-40E, exit 273. Turn right on State Highway 56S. Travel 14 miles to the Highway 70 intersection in Smithville. Take a left on highway 70E. Travel 8.5 miles to the Johnson Chapel turn off (sign on right). Turn left and travel approximately 3 miles to recreation area. There is no sign stating the name of the recreation area.

This area is both day use and camping. There are fifty-six(56) picnic sites and one(1) group site. There are two(2) swimming Areas, and two(2) ramps available for launching.
